 About Shannon

1994 marks the beginning of Shannon’s career in Painting and Finishing. Hailing from Springfield, Mo, his early years were spent exclusively in the high-end residential market. He learned his trade from Chris Barber and Chris’s father Dennis Barber. “ I learned everything the old-fashioned way. First you master the basics, then you acquire the more advanced skills.” With that philosophy, he learned custom woodwork staining and finishing, painting, and a few years later began learning faux techniques. Working with walnut, oak, ash, hickory, maple and many other beautiful woods, he prefers staining and clear finishes over painting. “The natural grain of wood is so much more impressive than a painted piece of wood. Only nature can give us this.”

In 1999, he moved to Central, Florida and has been earning a reputation as someone who is dedicated to craftsmanship above all else. With his attitude of quality over quantity, he has ruffled a few feathers in the painting community. But this same attitude has earned him praise from many customers. “ In 2002, I did a Venetian Plaster finish in the Lobby of The Lakeland Yacht & Country Club. The General Manager, Glynn Wingard asked me to write a column about it in the newsletter. I was really flattered.” He has an extensive list of specialty work including Acid Staining, Wood Graining, Venetian Plaster, Textures, Distressing, Rain Aging, Faux Leather, and many other Faux effects.

With an eye for detail, his goal is 100% customer satisfaction. Some of his past clients include Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland Yacht & Country Club, UBS Financial, Artistic Ink Tattoo, ASAP advertising and printing, Cook Construction Co., Golden Scissor Salon, Darden Restaurants, and Brad Pitt’s family. “With the help of my Legion Bros. Business partner, Trent Roofner, I plan on improving the painting trade in Central, Florida. Our motto is truly our goal."
